God's Grace

September 25th 2005   Brother Adam Dotson

750,000 gallons, that’s how much water flows over the Niagara Falls each second. I find that number overwhelming. Every minute it could fill up over 2,220,000 bathtubs or 4,500 average size swimming pools. Imagine what it would be like to try and stand at the base of the waterfalls. You would be swept away in a matter of seconds.

To me that is how grace feels, swept away in God’s love. Encompassed, overcome, immersed in God’s love. Divine grace is the free and undeserved love and favor of God towards man. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. You can’t deny the presence of grace but you can resist it. God will not make you accept His divine grace- He only presents it. If you want to know how true peace feels, try grace.

If you want to know true purpose , try grace. If you don’t know what you want, try grace. When you need forgiveness, there is grace. When you need to forgive someone else, there is grace to help you forgive. When you are dejected, there is grace. When you want to get to Heaven, there is grace.

Resisting God’s great grace is like trying to keep from being swept away by the falls. The battle only makes you tired and eventually will destroy you. Right now, right where you are, God is able to move in your life- will you let Him?

I am only one, but I am one; I cannot do everything, but I can do something, what I can do, I ought to do...and what I ought to do, by God's grace, I will do.
