HOMECOMING 2007 10/21/07 Bro LeeOne of the most appealing thoughts in human experience is the thought of coming home. It means coming to that place where everything is familiar and safe. It means coming to that place where we are accepted and understood and nurtured. Everywhere else, things are a little different, a little strange, and living is more of an effort. And by contrast, home is where we can relax because we know what everything means without having to figure it out. Yet like Abram, we are called to leave home Quite simply put, this future home is heaven, and everything good about our childhood home was no more than a preparatory place kind of preconditioning. The hymn, "I'm but a stranger here; heav'n is my home," is quite precise in this respect. If we take all the longings for home that we have, they point very directly toward heaven. They are longings for love and understanding, for security and freedom, and these are wholly characteristic of heaven. They are also longing for youth and energy, for the joy of being, doing, and these are also wholly characteristic of heaven. Heaven really can be home, but there has to be some preparation made before we can go there . A home in heaven didn’t come cheap. It cost Jesus His life on a cross at cavalry ,and all we have to do is except the sacrifice that He made for us and then only can we say heaven is our home. Ro 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. |
