Let Us Reason Together

Nov.27,2005 Brother Bill Moseley

Isaiah 1:18-20 “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” Unlike most religions of the world, Christianity appeals to the reason of man, the created intelligence possessed by each individual. Unlike the instinct of animals, the call to repentance and acceptance of the Lord, our Saviour, appeals to our ability to make decisions. We have the ability to make a choice to serve the creator of the universe or the one whose final home will be the pits of hell. Reasoning within ourselves can only result in one conclusion, let us serve the Lord.

Though your sins are as vial as they can be, they can be completely hidden and forgiven. The invitation has been made. Hebrews 8:12 “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” The appeal to our reasoning ability requires very little compared to the miseries awaiting those entering the region of the damned. Isaiah 45:22 “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” “Let us reason together.”

Jesus came to save that which was lost because of sin. The sacrifice of Christ on the cross of Calvary was planned before the world was created. All we have to do is appeal to the Lord for forgiveness, accept the pardon that is freely given, and inter into the joys of the Lord. There are no rituals, no set number of years of dedication and devotion, no years of self inflicted abuse and suffering before receiving what God wants us to have immediately. Matthew 11:30 “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” “Let us reason together.” Doesn’t this make sense? What could be easier?
