GOD’S MEMORIAL

Memory is a very precious gift from God , but it is also very fleeting . Great sacrifices and labors in the Lord can easily pass from human consciousness . Even written accounts and documents can so easily pass from existence . Ecclesiastes 1:11 says : " There is no remembrance of former things ; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after ." How easily man’s past history is forgotten . In this world there is no sure way to guarantee that the works of great saints will be preserved for future memory . Great works of humble saints can go virtually unnoticed in this world . Even if you hear great names of the past read as a memorial , if there is no personal recollection of their lives , it does not mean as much to you . All you have is a name .

The names of saints , however , are so precious to Jesus . He knows every life , and every effort that was dedicated to him ! Each one has a special place , and is memorialized in the mind of God ! No effort , that is made out of a true heart for Jesus , goes unnoticed by Him .

Malachi 3:16 says : " Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another : and the Lord hearkened , and heard it , and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord , and that thought upon his name ."God even recognizes the saints’ good thoughts about Him ! How awesome He is ! God is always thinking about you , but how often do you think about Him ! God’s got a record that can never burn up or get lost . Great lives will be recognized in God’s eternal memorial ! Every work will be rewarded . Matthew 10 : 42 says : " And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple , verily I say unto you , he shall in no wise loose his reward ."

It is so easy to allow Satan to make one feel that their labor in the Lord is going unnoticed , or does not matter . Even if people around you do not appreciate you , Jesus appreciates every effort you make for Him ! He will give each believer a special job , and it will thrill the heart of Jesus to see them doing well in the place where He has called them . Jesus told His people at Smyrna , : " ...I know thy works , and tribulation , and poverty ( but thou art rich ) ..." [ Rev .2 :9 ] He hadn’t forgotten them in their trouble , and He will never forget any of His dear children . Hebrews 6 : 10 says : " For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love , which ye have shewed toward his name , in that ye have ministered to the saints , and do minister . " Work hard for the Lord , dear Christian friend ! You’ll be part of God’s eternal memorial !
