My Strong Rock

Jesus is my strong rock and refuge on whom I can depend ! " Hearken to me , ye that follow after righteousness , ye that seek the Lord : look unto the rock whence ye are hewn , and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged . " [ Isaiah 51 : 1 ] I was taken out of the rock ! Jesus is the foundation of my spiritual life , for He gave me life in place of death ! " I will love thee , O Lord , my strength . The Lord is my rock , and my fortress , and my deliverer ; my God , my strength , in whom I will trust ; my buckler , and the horn of my salvation , and my high tower . " [ Psalm 18 : 1-2 ] A "buckler " was a certain kind of shield , and it reminds me that Jesus is my shield from the enemy . I won’t be defeated as long as I stand on the rock !

I don’t have to be afraid because I’m living on the rock . As Paul said : " For God hath not given us the spirit of fear ; but of power , and of love , and of a sound mind . " [ 2 Timothy 1 : 7 ] What powerful words of comfort and assurance ! I am so thankful that I am protected by the rock . In order to bring an assault against me , the enemy has to go against the rock . He can’t defeat the rock no matter how hard he tries ! What a blessing to know Jesus as my rock , who will nourish and guide my life !
