Jesus Whispers Peace

06-03-07 Brother Bill Moseley

From the church hymnal, we have the following words from the first verse of the hymn bearing the name “He Whispers Sweet Peace to Me” by Will M. Ramsey:

“Sometime when misgivings darken the day,

And faith‘s light I cannot see;

I ask my dear Lord to brighten the way,

He whispers sweet peace to me.”

Those who are anchored in Jesus have “the peace of God which passeth all understanding“. (Ph 4:7) When the trials of life confront your soul and it seems all is a loss, Jesus whispers sweet peace. (Verse 4)

“He speaks in a still, small voice we are told,

A voice that dispels all fear;

And when I’m in doubt or troubled in soul,

That still, small voice I can hear.”

Glory!! Glory!! Glory!! Where is this world can we receive such peace? In the world, we have turmoil, trouble, and strife. Jesus says there will be “wars and rumors of wars”, but in Christ we can have peace. As longs as this world stands, there will be periods of peace. But wars, along with the death and destruction that follows, will exist. Individual lives will have problems that seem insurmountable, but in Jesus we have peace.

At the birth of John the Baptist, his father, Zacharias, speaking in the Holy Ghost, proclaimed John to be “the prophet of the Highest who would go before the Lord to give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet in to the way of peace.” (Lu 1:76-79)

Does the peace of God exist in your life? In Jesus, it can.
