Let the Beauty of Jesus Be Seen In Me

June 25th 2006 Brother Bill Moseley

The Apostle Paul’s desire was to be like Christ and is expressed in his statement found in Phil. 3:10, “That I may know him and the power of His resurrection....” Paul was seeking likeness, not just acquaintance. The beauty of Jesus became a reality to Paul when he met Christ personally on the road to Damascus. He was so overcome by His presence that he became surrendered to the will of Christ at that point.

The disciples showed that they had spent time with Jesus; “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)

While it is important to have been with Christ, people want to be able to see Christ in our walk as well as our work. Mary and Martha prepared for a visit from the Lord in their home. While Martha was completely in grossed in the preparations, Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus and take in every word that fell from His lips.

In order for the beauty of Christ to be seen in each of us, we must spend time with Christ in prayer. We must have a place to get alone with Him, a place Jesus referred to as our closet because He knew there would be some things that would be an embarrassment to share with others.

We must spend time in Gods word in order for the beauty of Christ to come forth. The Bible is all about Christ. In Genesis, He is god with us; in Exodus, Christ is the Passover Lamb; in Numbers, He is the coming King; in Isaiah, He is the root out of dry ground; in the Gospels, He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; in Hebrews, He is the Chief Cornerstone.

For the beauty of Christ to emanate our being, we must protect ourselves against sin. Paul instructed the Ephesians to put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to withstand the wiles of the devil. Sin separates you from the joy of the Lord. David was robbed of his joy with the Lord because of sin. Samson lost his power because of sin. Many Christians have lost the joy of their salvation because of sin.

To maintain the beauty of Christ within, keep your hands on the plow, the spiritual weapons of warfare by your side and choose wisely those you fellowship. We must be willing to pay the price.
