" FATHER’S DAY " June 18, 2006 Brother Lonnie Francis Once again, we ask the question, how do we honor our fathers? We want to portray their positive images, since they have had such an impact on all of our lives. A father’s place in society and in the home, is first to God and then to his wife and children. A father’s greatest demonstration of love, is in how he loves his family. Husbands are commanded by God to love their wives as Christ loved the church, and remember Jesus gave his life for the church. Children should be able to approach their fathers without fear, and feel free to discuss anything with them, and depend upon them for sound advice and good support. Father’s do your children have this type of relationship with you? Remember this is the type of relationship that we can count on from our Heavenly Father. One of the greatest responsibilities of a father, is to be the Spiritual Leader in his home. We as parents are faced with the awesome task of rearing our children in the fear of the Lord, and when done in this manner, we have God’s guarantee, that when they are old they will not depart from it. Father’s are you teaching your children how to pray, and how to walk holy and righteously before God? They learn best by your example.. Father’s have you taught them about a love and passion for God’s word? once again, you are their best example. Father’s are you affectionate toward your family? Do you show your emotions? Do you tell them that you love them? Have they ever seen you shed a tear? Contrary to public belief, these emotions are not only manly, but they are godly, as demonstrated by both God the Father, and Jesus Christ, His Son, which is the greatest love story ever told. Father’s, God has positioned you at the head of your family, with witch comes great responsibilities, and many rewards. Father’s although you are the head of your home, love and respect can not be demanded, but it must be earned. Father’s that use God’s guidelines, (the bible) will find that these things will come naturally. Father’s remember that God has entrusted you with the care of your family, so be the best husband, the best father, and the best example, that you can be. Failure only comes when God’s instructions are ignored. " HAPPY FATHER’S DAY" |
