Little Children Jan 6th 2008 Brother Bill Moseley Many young children were brought to Jesus that he might touch and bless them. I have in mind that their parents were concerned enough to bring them to Jesus. Many parents today fail to point the way to Jesus much less bring them to the church where they might hear the word taught and preached. With Christmas now history, many begin to think what might bring joy to their children next year, and have bought gifts at reduce prices during the day after Christmas sales. But the greatest gift we could present our children can not compare with touch of Christ on there lives. Many will stand before God in the day of judgment for their failure to provide Christ in the young child's life. We may have all the riches necessary to provide the best for our children. We may possess all the goodness required to portray a morally clean life, but failure to know Jesus personally, and failure to bring up our children in the ways of righteousness, will result in loss. The disciples rebuked those that brought the children to Christ. How sad the Christ’s disciples would attempt to prevent these little ones to come to Jesus. Jesus was much displeased at this and reminded his disciples that the Kingdom of Heaven was made of such. “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” (Mk 10:14) He encouraged this as we should do, even insist that our children be brought to Christ. He goes further to say that, “whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a Little Child, shall not enter therein.” (vs. 15) We must accept Christ with child like faith. What better time to accept Christ than as a little child. “And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them and blessed them.” (vs. 16) To be touched and blessed by Christ, there is no greater gift. The touch of God on ones life is far greater than all the riches of this world. |
