Ones’ Faith February 22, 2009 Bro. Bill Moseley Joshua 14:12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said. The children of Israel prayed constantly for deliverance from the bondage of Egypt. Four hundred years they were bound to the taskmasters. Yet they continued to look up to God for deliverance. Moses was appointed in answer to their prayers to the task of going down into Egypt and confronting Pharaoh to let the people of God go. God had prepared a land for them and they were to occupy. Sections of the land were divided out among the tribes. Caleb was shown the section his people were to possess, and even though the Children of Israel were made to wander the wilderness for forty years because of unbelief, Caleb maintained the vision God had given him. He had faith that one day he would take up residence there. The verse at the beginning of this piece refers to the day they actually began to take hold on their possessions. Caleb points to the mountain he had been shown some forty years prior to this moment. He never lost his vision. When we consider the promises Jesus told us about, eternity in heaven, ours to behold, if we hold out to the end, does it not give us a bright outlook during a time of much grief and sorrow? Problems may arise that would defeat those without the vision of Heaven, but for us who know Jesus as Lord, time will pass quickly. We can one day look up to Heaven and take possession of what God has promised. Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. |
