Hebrews 2:1.

2/19/2006  Brother Adam Dotson

We live in a tough world. Pressure on every hand, corruption around every turn. Destruction in every land. The evening news has to run" human interest stories" just to dilute the daily reports of pain and despair. Living life and getting by can be a real chore. The simple care free days seem to have disappeared into yesteryear.

Everyone is looking for answers on how to survive, but where do we turn these days for answers on how to live? Dear Abby has been replace by Dr. Phil. Internet chat rooms have replaced the neighbors front porch. New Age teaching has gained popularity. All the while the answers are right in front of you in that dust covered book with the letters BIBLE on the front.

There was a best seller titled "Everything I need to know I learned in Kinder garden". If we could only get people to realize everything we need to know we can learn in the Bible. Everything! The problem is most refuse to listen to its teachings or have forgot them. We want answers that justify our choices or conform to our lifestyles. The Bible is too strict for our taste, and so is any church teaching from it.

There are reasons for the strictness. We teach and preach about getting to Heaven but if we can't get it right while on earth, Heaven won't be waiting on us. But don't despair there is good news: God gave us instructions on how to live. Learn everything you can in the Bible, learn about how much God loves us, learn about how to deal with temptation, learn about what to do when the pressure is on, and realize there is good reason why God had this verse written down for us: Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. Hebrews 2:1.
