February 14, 2010 The Wonder Of Love The question of who or what is love, depends on who you are asking. To the world it is Cupid, but to the church it is God. The story of Cupid and Psyche has been around since the 2nd century, as told by both the Greek and Roman cultures. These cultures have made shrines depicting Cupid and Psyche as gods. They have exposed them in the most indecent ways, it’s theme is of nudity and sex. It is all Pagan and has nothing to do with real love. Out culture defines having sex as making love. Love is not something that you make, neither is it an act, love is a person, and that person is God. God is love, this is His nature. Think about it; what does a little boy in a diaper holding a bow and arrow, have to do with love? God demonstrated real love when He watched His only Son die on a cross for the sins of the world. I like God’s version best. The type of love that God gives is the only true love, He teaches us that love is more than a word, it is action. Love is not selfish, prideful, or boastful. As a matter of fact, His Word tells us that we know that we have passed from death unto life because we love the brother. Love does not focus on me, but on others. Our labor of love is serving God by serving others. Who are others? Jesus Himself answered that question when He said; not to only love them that loves you, but to even love your enemies. Love is recognized by what it is not, rather than what it is. Love is good, it demonstrates affection, compassion and forgiveness of others. Our prayer to the Everlasting Father, should be to obtain His help in seeing ourselves through the eyes of Jesus. One who loved us when we were unlovable, and redeemed us when we were not worthy May this Valentine’s Day be celebrated and dedicated to the only God of love, “Jehovah God” {Self-existent} This God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that we could have eternal life. I deserved hell, but because of the Love of God, I get to go to heaven.
