Day of Deliverance 12-09-2007 Brother Bill Moseley Psalms 31:14-15 “But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God. My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.” In this psalm, David looks back over a number of situations that he was faced with in his life, and he confirms that it was in God that he trusted to deliver him. We can draw comfort knowing that since God delivered David, we should be confident that He will deliver us. In verse nine, David declares that God was there when he was in trouble, when his eye, his soul, and his belly was consumed with grief. When his years were spent with sighing, his strength failed because of his iniquity, and his bones were consumed, God was there at his side (vs. 10) When he was a reproach among his enemies and his neighbors, and was dreaded by his acquaintances, he trusted in the one that was by his side (vs. 11). When he was forgotten and out of the mind of those nearest to his life, as a dead man, as a broken vessel, God never forgot him (vs. 12) When he had heard the slander of those that took counsel against him, who planned to take away his life, he trusted God to be there and turn aside his enemies. David trusted God, and declared his life was in His hand. He further seeks God’s continued favor upon his life as we all should. I’m reminded of the scripture that states that we should make our calling and election sure. We must continue our relationship with the Father, enduring unto the end. David seeks God’s mercy. He seeks God’s intervention on those that would destroy him and God’s goodness and strength. |
