HOW TO BE A SUCCESS

What comes to mind when you think of a successful life ? Do you think of doctors , lawyers ,or great leaders of corporations ? Is being successful reflected by the kind of automobile you drive , the kind of house you live in , the amount of salary you make , or the level of education you have attained ? According to the word of God , none of these things guarantee a successful life . Proverbs 23 : 5 says: " Wilt thou set thine eyes on that which is nought ? For riches certainly make themselves wings ; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven ." There is nothing wrong with being blessed with material possessions , but none of these things will matter when your time comes to die , nor can they give you true peace in this life .

The Lord told Joshua : " This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth ; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night , that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein : for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous , and then thou shalt have good success . " [ Joshua 1 : 8 ] You see, the only way to be truly successful is to follow the word of God ,which is his instructions for life , and serve the Lord Jesus Christ ! Material possessions are going to burn someday , so avoid getting too attached to them , but what you do for Jesus will last forever ! According to the Bible in Malachi " ... they that feared the Lord spake often one to another : and the Lord hearkened and heard it , and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord , and that thought upon his name." Are you busy collecting the treasure that will last ? If they do not watch , even Christians can get more focused on being a success in the world than being a success to God . I would much rather be a failure in the eyes of the world , than a failure to God .

How do we sum our lives up? In Ecclesiastes the Bible says : " ... hear the conclusion of the whole matter : Fear God , and keep his commandments : for this is the whole duty of man . "

Without Jesus our lives have no real purpose or direction . Romans 10 : 9 shows us what we must do to have a truly successful life . It says : " That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus , and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead , thou shalt be saved . " Please ask yourself if your life is a success . Remember, ten thousand years from now it will not matter what kind of car you drove , how much money you made , or how many friends you had . The only thing that will matter will be what you did with Jesus Christ !
