RESTING BY FAITH ON GOD'S ETERNAL LOVE.

April 19th 2009 Bro. Bill Moseley

There once was a man that was lame from birth and was daily brought to the gate of the temple to ask alms of them that entered the temple to worship. Note the word “daily”. Many think it a burden to come out to the house of God once a week. But on a certain occasion, Peter and John were making their way to the temple at the hour of prayer. Once the man saw Peter and John, he asked alms of them. But Peter said, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee; In the name of Jesus of Nazareth rise up and walk.” Now, this shows faith in God. This man’s feet and ankle received strength and he began leaping and praising God.

Those that knew this man were filled with wonder and amazement. Now the people tried to credit Peter with this miracle, but he would have none of that. He told them that the one they crucified, the one they denied, the one Pilate was determined to let go, made this man strong. For Peter goes on to say in the 16th verse, “And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know; yea the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”

Glory, glory, glory! It is nothing that Peter or John, or anyone else can do, but faith in the Lord Jesus. As a little child of six or seven years of age, my oldest son had faith enough to seek healing from the Lord for a build up of fluid in his ears requiring surgery. The day the surgery was scheduled, the doctor brought him back to us stating there is no need for surgery.

My granddaughter had two warps around her mouth that we thought would require surgery to be removed. But she anointed herself and stood before a picture of Jesus in our house and asked Him to remove those warps. You would never know she had them.

God loves us so that we can rest by faith in His eternal love. Resting by faith. Yes we can rest assured that our welfare is God’s concern. For what other reason would he send His only begotten son into this world to suffer, as He did before Pilate and those who wanted His death? I’m resting by faith in His eternal love. How about you? Have you turned yourself completely over to Him?
